Part 1
Part 2

KrishnaVamsi lives in 'Anthapuram of movie making' from which he cannot runaway. His creativity and vision wont let him leave the p(a)lace. Instead he locks us in to see and wonder how beautifully a film can be made. His passion for making films is never satisfied and burns like fire within him.

He shows both anger and innocence showing the true and two colors of 'sindhuram' with the character of BulliRaju who runs inncocently with anger - once to protect and once to violate the same system. He doesn't leave us there now he is swinging his two sided 'Khadgam' against the violent, brutal and non-human aspects of communalism.

If violence and bad politics go hand in hand we feel that we are getting drowned in the 'Samudram' then he suddenly showers his magical moon light in the form of 'Chandralekha' to cool off the hot air.

After all we are human beings and are not exempted from emotions which play big in our lives. May be thats why his movies play big on emotions. Nativity in dialogues, characterization, picturization, novelty in thought and vision, raw actors and the command over all the departments in the film making not only brought him awards but also earned him name, fame and respect in the hearts of telugu movie fans.

If we pause here before going any further and look back all the way where he made himself from "light boy" to "right boy"(as called in the industry) we dont see "KRISHNA VAMSI" instead we see committment, hard-work, intelligence, creativity and never-give-up attitude.

Before Gulabi:

His father used to work as an assistant Executive Engineer for the PWD where transfers are common. So KrishnaVamsi spent most of his childhood in the districts of Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Ongole and Rayalseema. His only interest from the age of 14 is to watch movies. But his real interest developed when he was doing his B.Sc in Tadepalligudem. His day never went by without watching a movie. After completion of his MA in Agricultural Economics at Agra University he applied for civils with the pressure from his father. Civils could not stop his fascination towards films. He joined as an exhibitor where he got the oppourtunity to study closely about the projector, sound system and observe the audience reaction towards various scenes. This is the place where he got the nerve of the people. He went to chennai to write his civils exam and never returned back to Tadepalligudem.

With the advice from P.S.Prakash(cameraman) he joined as an outdoor light boy which helped him learn how a movie is made. He then worked as an assistant cameraman and used to apply what he studied in books and analyze it with what he learned from cameraman. After that he joined Goutam Raju as an assistant director where he leart editing and understood direction and his mistakes. Silk Smita is the producer of the film and that film was made for 2 years. Krishnavamsi got his first pay check for Rs.500 in 1987 from Silk Smitha. That was the tough time where he even survived without having food for days. He then met Siva Nageswar Rao who was co-director for 'Prema Yuddam' starring Nagarjuna.

Then after a long gap KV was introduced to RamGopalVarma by SivaNageswarRao. He was then interviewed and got selected by Varma. His job is to assist Varma technically with camera in the making of Siva. By the end of the shooting he bacame an importan person in the team. Later on worked with Varma for Kshana Kshanam, Ratri, Antham, Drohi and Gayam. After Gayam he worked as an assistant director for Money. Later on he was asked to direct Money-Money by Varma but Krishnavamsi refused because he did not want to be launched with a sequel. But with Varma's pressure, directed the film after coming to an agreement that his name would not be in the titles as a director. KrishnaVamsi was so inconsistent in making that he took 4 shots to complete one song and like 357 shots for another song. KrishnaVamsi overcame that after a brain-wash from varma about inconsistency. Finished the film and it was later on released with the name of SivaNageswarRao. Then Varma offered KV to direct Anaganaga Oka Roju(AOR) and after finishing 2 schedules he was thrown out of the project for spending 54 lakhs. Once again KrishnaVamsi started knocking doors for chances.

Nagarjuna, Jagapathi Babu and others who offered him chances turned cold feet after AOR incident. Then he came across the news of 14 year old girl Ameena who was sold to 70 year old Dubai Sheik. Inspired by this news he made a story and the script came out really well. KrishnaVamsi approached Tabu for the role and got approval from her but that did not work out for him. At that time Varma came to know about the story line and offered to set the project up. Varma did not interfere and gave KrishnaVamsi full freedom and did not even read the script before starting the project. At that time KrishnaVamsi worked for about 18 hours a day for 55 days and completed the shooting of Gulabi within the budget of 75 lacs which surprised varma(AOR experience). Later on Varma admitted that he knew Gulabi would turn out to be a really good one but was skeptical about the budgeting of KrishnaVamsi. Krishna Vamsi proved himself in all the aspects for that movie. No one ever knew that Chakri would be so powerful, Maheswari would look that good, SasiPreetham would give that music, Chalapathi Rao has soft corner in him and above all- that girls would call boys and tease them calling yentira..arey chandu..ila chooda ra babu...

An emotional love story with natural dialogues and violent backdrop interleaved to condemn a social evil of selling girls. Gulabi created sensation even before the release of the movie. As the industry went on buzz and everybody started talking about it and its novelty. Nagarjuna called on KrishnaVamsi to discuss on a project After Gulabi in next week.....
