Interview with Lawrence

Lawrence's MUNI is ready to hit the screens on 9th of March. On this occassion, he met with the media. The following are the excerpts.

About Muni

Muni has a different subject that is not touched so far. At the same time it has all the ingredients to entertain all segments of audience. Normally every one claims that their film is different. But this is truly a different film. This is a horror film.

Horror? Dealing with devils and ghosts?

No. Not ghosts. There will be a spirit though. Rajkiran is playing a key role in the flashback episode. That is where the spirit comes into picture.

You proved yourself directing commercial oriented films. Why this horror film now?

Even this film will have all commercial ingredients. Now coming to your why now question. I had this script even before Mass. But no one would dare produce this film at that point. Even I was skeptical on how people will receive such films. Now I am confident. Especially after watching Chandramukhi. I am sure this will entertain the audience and will get me good name.

What is the inspiration behind the film?

Myself. I can identify myself in the character. Most of us will have this kind of fear but no one would normally come out.Even our camera man Guhan confessed the same.

Tell us about lead roles in this film

I am playing a coward in this film. Coward in the sense that I am scared to go out after dark. And once the spirit overtakes this character, it will change his life forever. That should be seen on screen. Vedika is playing heroine in this film. She played my wife, a romantic character. Her role has good scope for performance and dance.

What do you consider are the highlights of this film?

Dance, climax fight and climax song are the best.

Charan is producing this film in Tamil and Manyam Ramesh in Telugu. How did the project start in the first place?

Charan is the one who got me on-screen for 5 times. Later he said that he is making 5 films in Tamil and one of them will be with me. That is how Muni happened.

You are doing films in both Telugu and Tamil. Which one are you more comfortable with?

I have both backgrounds. My mother is a Tamilian and father is from Andhra. So I have ease with both languages. However, I am more comfortable in Telugu film industry. I got introduced as choreographer, then made debut as director and am now making debut as music director in Telugu films.

Tell us about DON

All I would say is DON will be 3 times to Mass. 2 songs are already recorded. They came out excellent. I feel very comfortable working with Nagarjuna because he gives me full freedom.

You are doing music for this film

Yes. Normally, during my narration and dance composition, I hum song and music. Nagarjuna suggested that I should try composing music. My contribution for DON as music director will be limited to songs. Re-recording will be done by some one else.

Lawrence is longing to make a film with Megastar Chiranjeevi. He quotes it as one of his ambitions. He recently started a
dance school for handicapped. After the release of Muni, he will spend some time in the inauguration of Sri Raghavendra Swami temple that he got constructed. He belives very strongly in Sri Raghavendraswami.

We wish Lawrence huge success with his upcoming Muni.
