Interview with Seshukumar
Music director P.Seshu kumar came up with a soft melody based music album "AKASAM".
His foray in to the film music started with "NEE THODU KAVALI" and his next film is "RENDELLA THARUVATHA". Both the audios are well received from all quarters.
Now he is back with a soft melody based music album "AKASAM".
TotalTollywood caught up with the music director few days ago. The following are the excerpts.
Tell us your foray into the film music?
I started my career as a sound engineer. Fortunately I met director Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao along with my friends. He gave us a chance to do "Neethodu kavali". After that I did "Rendella taruvata". Both were mile stones in my career.
You haven't got the required break yet. Do you feel that you are not getting recognition!
I do feel it to some extent but I realize that some of the audience do recognize my talent. With recognition comes good offers. Good music always reaches one day or the other.
How did the music of "Akasam" evolve?
It is a dream come true. I wanted to make an album from the starting of my career. The moment I start on working for the
album, I ended up doing a movie. Now with the support of my producer Srisai from California, I am able to complete the album.
What is Aksam all about?
Akasam is a creative journey of dreams and memories.
The emotional tenor of the music just takes over the senses for a moment. There are 7 tracks that convey atmospheric feelings. Slightly Indo-Western influenced, switching up genres track by track. Instruments and rhythms have a strong influence in contemporary Indian music.
Do you think you've achieved what you had set out to?
I didn't set out to achieve anything. It all happened on its own. I always go with the flow. When the going gets tough, only the tough gets going.
As of now, I have not yet finalized anything. Right now, I am doing background score for a film which is due to release next month.
What kind of music you like to compose personally?
I personally like melodies. I am great fan of R.D.Burman and Ilayaraja. They are such a phenomenon because of their great melodious compositions. Even in masala films they had given melodies. Melodies alone stand in the long run.
We thank Seshukumar for his time and we wish him all the best in his career.
