Bharani is the dubbed version of Tamarabharani. This is the fourth film for Vishal whose first three films (also dubbed from Tamil) are good hits viz. Premachadarangam, Pandem Kodi, Pogaru. Though he didnt have even one single straight film, Vishal already has got decent following with Telugu audience and openings for Pogaru is an example.
Bharani is a family story in which two families seperate due to ego clashes and the children from the seperated families fall in love. With his three films, Vishal has got the image of an action hero. This film gave him a chance to change his image a bit. He
did the role of an young lad with good ease. However, to maintain the image of Vishal, few action sequences are added. And
Vishal is good in those action sequences. Also, he proved his dancing skills, particularly in the song Sayya Sayyare. Overall, he did very well in the film. Though the macho'ness from his previous films is not seen in the film, it is the how
the character was molded.
Heroine Bhanu already acted in Telugu film (Sivanageswara Rao's Photo). She is a good actress. However, she did not suit Vishal in that role. Two actors who need special mention is Prabhu and Nadiya. They are excellent in their roles. The rest of the characters did not have much scope.
Though the story is not novel, the way it is presented with Vishal in mind is good. It is kind of a tough attempt to show Vishal who has action image in this kind of drama. Director did a good job in blending the family drama and image of Vishal
to some extent. Drama episodes (emotional scenes, especially in the second half) are effective. However, Vishal's character presentation could have been better.
Dialogs by Sasank Vennelakanti are good. Camera by Priyan, editing, music are content. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is okay. Only one song Sayya Sayyare is good. Background score is good.
In total, Bharani movie is an average movie. This film will help Vishal in changing his image and appealing to all segments of audience.
