Andarivaadu - Review
Andarivadu is all about Chiranjeevi and only Chiranjeevi.
The film dealt with the relation between a father and son. Add nonstop comedy to it and excellent dance numbers - and that is
Andarivadu. And as an added bonus Chiranjeevi appears in dual role to fill out the entire screen time.
Srinu Vaitla, who proved his mettle with comedy,
exploited the timing and mannerisms to elevate Chiranjeevi to reachout to the audience.
Getting into the story line, Govindarajulu (Chiranjeevi) is married at the age of 17. His wife dies giving birth to their
first child Sidhartha (Chiranjeevi). Govindarajulu becomes everything to his son. Also, Govindarajulu is admired by one and all
for his boldness in fighting for justice. He is the king of Chintalabasti. He has few bad habits though viz. smoking, drinking.
Sidhu wants his father to quit all booz, smoke and fights. Planning with his grandfather (Satyanarayana), Sidhu
gets Govindarajulu married to Sarada (Tabu). Meanwhile Sidhu falls in love with Swetha (Rimmi Sen), who is the daughter of contractor
Veerendra (Prakashraj). Veerendra has a condition for the marriage to take place - Govindarajulu and Sidhu should seperate.
Did the marriage take place? To know whether the father and son split up for this reason, watch the film on the silver screen
As mentioned earlier, the film is all about Chiranjeevi. He is the heart and soul of the film. Though Chiru played dual role, it
is the character of Govindarajulu that is elevated. Megastar dished out mega performance in both the roles.
Chiranjeevi's comedy
in this film is undoubtedly one of the best in his career till date. Especially the scenes - where he is drunk, how he irritates
Prakashraj with memories, his expressions when his daughter-in-law tells him to stop drinking, pretending to do meditation to cover up
his drinking, when told to "go with power", he walks with his lungi up and shaking, and many more. The film is filled with all such scenes.
One of the scenes where the fans might go crazy is when Chiru cooks Upma by humming Ye Jilla Ye Jilla song from Shankar Dada.
This could be considered the viswaroopam of Megastar's comedy.
As he makes you laugh with his acts, he makes you cry with his emotions.
There are a few emotional/sentimental scenes in the film where Chiranjeevi's performance will bring out tears. On whole, his performance
in the film proves yet again why he is THE MEGASTAR.
Sidhu role is a dignified role. In this role Chiranjeevi played in a stylish getup. Thanks to the special effects, most part of the time
its both the roles on screen.
The rest of the cast is shadowed by the dual role. This is the first film for Rimmi Sen in Telugu. She did okay. She is impressive in dance numbers
than in the acting department. Tabu played the wife of Govindarajulu and her scope is very limited. Probably to just one song and few scenes.
Rakshitha is also limited to just one song. Though Prakashraj did the role in his own style, there is not much scope for him either.
Pradeep Rawat is limited to fights. Sunil lays an impressive mark with his punchlines.
Usually with the double roles, audience could identify the tricks, sometimes, when both the roles appear. Thanks to the
advancing technology that in this film it is very lively. Good work is done in that regard and also in
making Chiranjeevi pretty cool in the younger role.
Kabir Lal did good job with his camera. More care should have been taken in the editing department for some scenes end abruptly giving lead
to the next scenes. Music is just about average with songs and decent with re-recording. If not for Chiranjeevi onscreen, the audio would
have really no impact.
Bhoopathi Raja provided the story and really there is nothing to talk about it. Srinu Vaitla tried a balanced job with the screenplay and to most
of the extent he is successful. The director already proved with his mettle with handling comedy for Raviteja's Venky.
This time he succeeded in elevating Chiranjeevi and his comedy timing.
However, the director seemed to depend too much on the comedy and elevating Chiranjeevi rather than doing anything with
the story. Not much importance is given to the rest of the characters. More care should have been taken in the first half. It
feels like a song and a fight pattern. This gives the feel a bit of being dragged. Also there is too much use of graphics.
Scenes where Sunil hangs by the bike could have been avoided. The effects overdose is evident in the fights too.
Dialogues by Kona Venkat are okay. But some cracked really well. Samples
Govindarajulu to Tabu while telling her the implications of marrying him: guddeli banda meedha padda, bandochi guddu meedha padda, pagiledhi guddey. nee gooddu kosam chepthunna
bad decision theesukoku.
Sunil: polling avvakundaney boothu badhalayipoyindhi.
First half is totally dedicated to establishing Chiranjeevi's characters. Chiranjeevi's comedy,
4 fights and 3 songs make up the first half. Though it came out in entertaining way, there is something missing and at times
the film seems to be dragged. Second half is all about Veerendra and his daughter trying to seperate the father and son duo.
It feels like the director should have gone totally with the comedy track. For the way the comedy was going in the film,
it would have clicked great just with comedy in place. But the director choose to add lot of action elements and made it a
bit boring.
This is a must see for all Chiru fans and for the rest it is a decent family entertainer filled with comedy. This is truly a Chiru's show and it is tough
to visualize this film with any other hero in place.
1st song: Title song of Andarivaadu is done in Jamesbond style. It comes during the titles. The song is okay.
2nd song: 123 ee govindudu andarivaadu - This song goes with full mass beat. This is a good number. Lawerence joins
Chiranjeevi in the dance number. The wordings are very good for Chiranjeevi.
3rd song: FTV figure. This is pictured on Chiru, Rimmi Sen. Steps are good in this song. Art director Ashok came up with
good sets for this song.
4th Song: Ammamma Nee meesam - This is on Chiru, Tabu. This is filmed in the sets too and the sets are very good.
5th Song: Paduchu Bangarama - Song is good in terms of lyrics penned by Ananth Sriram.
6th Song: Kodikoora - This is a complete mass song. Steps are a rage. This is filmed on Chiru and Rakshitha.
Casting: Chiranjeevi, Tabu, Rimmisen, Rakshita, Prakashraj, Pradeep Ravat,
Brahmanandam, Venumadhav, Suneel, MS, Krishna bagavan, Kondavalasa, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao
