Tagore - Review
Story Tagore is a professor by profession. He loses his wife and kid in an accident that is caused due to illegal constructions, which happened
because of corruption. He vows to remove corruption from the society and acts accordingly. Tagore forms a student force - Anti Corruption force. How Tagore fights
against the corruption in the society through ACF forms the story.
Analysis Tagore is a Mega movie and is message oriented. The message is nicely wrapped with the commercial ingredients. The best part is that the story aptly
suited the mega image of Megastar. Vice Versa. No one else would fit this role other than Chiranjeevi. It is truly a one man show.
The character needs a huge following and
fan base. Though there was some skepticism before the release regarding the remake of Ramana, the film didnot miss the nativity
and is more power packed. The message is delivered in the right way. The goal reached. As a remark, the whole film can be conceived as the first scene of
Gangleader where he kidnaps the leaders and kills them. But it was his dream there. It took shape through Tagore. So Tagore is the dream of Gangleader.
The film is message oriented in the way it is very thought provoking. The film never lost the pace. Narration is good. Add to it the highlight of the film - Megastar.
He looked glamorous and young. Megastar's dances are simply superb. There are no words to explain the grace of his dance. Especially the numbers Kodithe Kottali raa and
Manmadha Manmadha are captured and composed great.
The film starts with Megastar greeting his fans and turns back. Now he appears as Tagore and criticizes corruption. The titles of Tagore take off.
The first 10-15 minutes of the film is on par with hollywood movie. The photography, lighting effects, editing and music synced very well
and made it technically sound. Though Chiranjeevi appears on the screen immediately, his first dialogues come in a cassette. The character of Tagore is such that his deeds speak. The first song Kodithe Kottali raa is pictured excellently. Graphic works are A class.
Unlike previous Chiranjeevi films where one step is the highlight, there are too many steps in this one. One dont get a chance even to breathe. Such is the composition. There is a
special step when the lines Sixe Kottali comes. Graphics come in to bring 3 Chiranjeevis and 7 Chiranjeevis to do the same step for stanzas 1 and 2 respectively. Lawrence
comes in for special appearance.
The fights in this film are different from his earlier films. Though the fights are pictured novel, Chiru's fans will miss his stunts.
The first half deals with the ACF (Anti-corruption-force), established by Chiranjeevi, applying their strategy to work. These kidnappings and planning are portrayed very well
without any confusion. Editing and visual effects added to the image of Chiranjeevi projecting the character of Tagore. There is no punchline for Chiranjeevi. Occassionally
he says "Telugu lo naaku nachani padam okkate - Kshaminchandi". Dialogues projecting Tagore (implicitly Chiranjeevi) as the leader of the people are abundant. They are
timed very well. Tagore is always in the background of the ACF activities. He takes the task of closing a hospital wherein the doctors are taking the patients for a ride. That brings him
to the notice of the villain Badrinarayana (Shiyaji Shinde), who recognizes Tagore from his past.
Screenplay is tightly packed and is planned well. The film right from the beginning cannot be missed. There are few scenes in between that are induced for songs - Mellaga
Mellaga and Vaanochenante. Mellaga Mellaga is a bit disappointment. The song, which got too much of response on audio, is pictured a bit bland. Barring a few
light steps (when compared to the first song), there is nothing in special. Vanochenante music sent the fans to the dance floors. The beginning and end of first half will
grab the complete attention of the viewer.
Second half shows the flashback of Chiranjeevi. Jyothika comes in that part. There are some light moments with Chiranjeevi, Ramaprabha and M.S.Narayana. Gappu Chuppu song
comes in when Jyothika and Chiranjeevi get married. This is a folk song and steps are composed sticking to it. Also, there is a dance bit celebrating Diwali. In this sequence, Chiru performs dance for various music modes. They are excellent. As soon as the flashback ends, comes the song -
Manmadha Manmadha and following that the film gets serious and continues the same tempo until the end. Manmadha Manmadha song is marvellous both audio and visuals.
There is a dance bit extending the veena bit of Indra. The step has to be seen on screen to be felt. It cannot be explained. Megastar proves that he is unequaled in terms
of dancing with grace. Moreover, this song reminds the Chiranjeevi of Mechanic Alludu times. There are lot of fast movements and dancing bits other than the highlight steps.
The climax draws as Chiranjeevi goes to surrender himself. This is because Balwar Singh (Punit Issar) takes the students into custody with the help of Constable Suryam (Prakashraj).
Another worth mention is the scene where one student's mother goes into the police torture cell and consoles his son for taking the beatings and finally tells him loudly
not to reveal the name of the leader. That particular scene is very impressive. Another scene on the same lines is when Tagore comes to surrender. Director has done great
job in terms of these scenes. Also the raise of revolution and scenes with the background of Srisri's Nenu Saitham are applaudable. The climax runs in the court as Tagore defends himself. These scenes are pictured in Tirupati at SVU campus. These shots brought in
reality and naturality to the scenes, though they looked a bit abstract. The captures are used to the best extent through out the court scene.
This is a great film for Megastar. As told by him, this will definitely stand as a milestone in his career.
This is very different from his usual movies. The movie appeals to both mass and class. Chiranjeevi took the whole script on his shoulder. His dances, styles, performance
are excellent. He once again proves his title Megastar. There are few scenes where Chiru excells. One such scene is where his wife and kid are killed in the building
collapse. Though the story line is thin, it is the narration that takes the whole show. Tagore is techinically excellent. All the visual effects are simply amazing.
Overall, in one single sentence this is a mega movie.
Artists
There is nothing new that one can say about Chiranjeevi. His image has passed from the level of craze to wave. He delivered an outstanding performance, placing this role
amongst one of his best. He looked very glamorous. The costumes for Tagore are perfect.
Shriya played a naughty girl who falls for Tagore. Her scope is limited. Same is the case with Jyothika. Jyothika has a very short role. She looked good and danced
well.
Prakashraj as a constable gave his best. Though the role is short, it plays a crucial role.
Sunil played the housekeeper at Tagore's. He assumes that Shriya loves him. His comedy is ok. He performs Veena step of Indra twice. He performed it quiet good.
Narsing Yadav, as a goon, comes for a fight. The way he explains about what cricket is very funny and will throw the viewers into laughter.
Kota Srinivasarao as intelligence officer, Puneet Issar as Police officer from Delhi, Ramaprabha as Tagore's grandmother, M.S.Narayana as Tagore's uncle,
Rajaravindra as the son of Badrinarayana, K.Viswanath as chief minister did their roles well.
Uttej, V.V.Vinayak, Raghu played short roles.
Music
Music by Manisharma is very good. The background score and songs came out very well on the screen. DTS mixing gave the required impact for the visual effects.
Kodithe Kottali, Manmadha Manmadha, Vaanochenante, Gappuchuppu are the songs worth mention for music.
Technical
Camera work by Chota K. Naidu is amazing. Minute details are also captured very well. Twisting of camera angles at fast pace, circular motion of the camera for focus
created hollywood kind of effects. Graphic works are cohered properly. Editing by Gauthamraj is very creative and effective. Stunts by Vijayan are novel. Especially the
fights where Tagore thrashes the goons at college, and when he goes to complain about the death of his wife are composed well.
Dialogues
Dialogues by Paruchuri are very well timed and are very good. Here are some dialogues that evoked great response from the audiences
Chiranjeevi: Telugu lo naaku nachani oke okka mata - kshaminchandi
K.Viswanath looking at the craze of Tagore: Innalu party la lonchi putte nayakulane choosanu. Modhatisari prajala lonchi vachina nayakudini choosthunnanu

Direction
V.V.Vinayak did a tremendous job. He handled screenplay and direction. The concept is explained well. He took his own pace in narrating. But a fast pace is maintained.
A great thing to appreciate is that there is no side track for in the name of relaxation. The director never missed his focus from the concept of the film. All the other characters,
to bring in some light moments, are well weaved into the storyline. Vinayak took a great care in getting the desired effect from the technical aspects. He is very successful
in reaching the audience with the anti-corruption message. Screenplay is very good balancing the emotional and lighter moments.
Thumbsup: Megastar Chiranjeevi - Looked great. amazing dances, scintillating performance.
Direction - V.V.Vinayak - A job well done.
Music - Manisharma - Background and songs.
Choreography - Lawrance - Manmadha Manmadha, Kodithe Kottalira.
